Four factors explain almost every price difference you'll see:
- Source — bought directly from Discord, or from a third-party service.
- Quantity — one boost or fourteen. Per-boost prices usually fall as quantity rises.
- Duration — a month, three months, longer. Longer plans are usually cheaper per month.

Comparing two offers only works when you hold those factors constant. "$X for boosts" tells you nothing until you know how many, for how long.
Official Discord Boosting vs Third-Party Services
Through Discord, boosts are sold per boost per month from the Server Boost screen. Pricing is regional and changes over time; at the time of writing Nitro subscribers get some boosts included and a discount on extra ones. The advantage is that it's the intended route, with no third party involved. The disadvantage is cost at scale: fourteen boosts a month through Discord adds up quickly, and every one of them depends on someone's subscription staying active.
Through a service such as DCBoosts, you buy a package — a fixed number of boosts applied to your server for a fixed plan length. Prices are per package, so the per-boost cost tends to be lower, particularly for larger packs. The trade-off is that third-party boosting sits in a grey area under Discord's terms, which reputable providers reduce but can't remove.

Number of Boosts

That doesn't mean bigger is better. Buying 28 boosts for a server that wants a banner (Level 2, 7 boosts) is money spent on perks you'll never see.
Duration
Plan length is the second lever. A 3-month package costs more up front than a 1-month one, but it's usually cheaper per month and — more importantly — keeps the level in place without a renewal every few weeks. If the perk is part of the server's identity (a vanity URL on a website), the longer plan is usually the sensible choice. For an event or a trial, a month is enough.
